Here is a letter from my friend Michael B. Haupt. His website is most informative. www.threeworldwars.com/ Hi Anwaar,
I hope you are finding these short Orientation Emails between newsletters useful.
Last week we spoke about understanding the Grand Plan instead of getting caught up in the detail of individual historical or current events. The media normally focuses on the sensationalism of individual events because that's what sells newspapers and draws viewers to their news stations. And that means increased revenue from the sale of advertising space and time. News items are chosen not for their informative and educational value, but on their ability to SELL.
Lessons From History
There are many lessons we can learn from history. In fact, Woodrow Wilson said, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Sadly, the controlled media never teaches us these valuable lessons. Not even your favorite History Channel, which often leaves out key pieces of vital and relevant information.
World War 2
We seldom pay much attention to WW2 because, well, it happened a long time ago and it never really affected us.
But are we "doomed to repeat" World War 2 precisely because we don't learn the lessons from what happened to citizens living then? There are many similarities between Hitler's Germany in the 1930's and the US today. But because it's never discussed in the news, we're completely oblivious to it.
From 1933-1939, Hitler steadily, gradually, changed law after law, rule after rule, and definition after definition, so he could impose his internal dictatorship. However, he took such tiny steps over this period of time that he did not raise the ire of his opposition. Only after he had legalized every act he wanted to carry out did he begin his world war and his internal genocide.
Our Western leaders are following exactly the same script today. They are carefully setting every paperwork change in place while taking care to not enact any of these new powers now, thus lulling most citizens to sleep, thinking these new powers will never be enacted.
I’ve completed a comparison of the rise of Hitler’s Nazi party in the lead-up to World War 2 and current world events in the lead up to World War 3. Since it’s in table format I can’t easily email it to you. I’d encourage you to go online to see just how far our society parallels that of Nazi Germany: WW2 and WW3 Compared.
You'll be shocked at the similarities and you might even be convinced that we're closer now to the same dictatorial powers being implemented than ever before.
That’s all until next week, Anwaar.
As always,
Live Free and Keep Thinking!
All the best, Michael Haupt
PS. Do you have any friends that are history buffs, Anwaar? How about forwarding this email to them so that they can see how history is being repeated right in their daily news? Or you can simply Tell Your Friends about ThreeWorldWars. They'll thank you for it, and so will I!
PPS. Did you know all this before? Am I boring you? The ThreeWorldWars site can't be all things to all people, as I'm sure you know. You might be more interested in taking The Ultimate Freedom Challenge. It's not for the light-hearted.

I just came from there. It is a huge site, and very intelligent and informative. Here's a sample quote: "When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic." -- Dresden James It's a bit less polished(and shrill)than Infowars.you should have a look, james. Be warned...It WILL scare the hell out of you.

The Truth does not need to be polished it is self evident. Therefor what is the need for the multimedia flash presentations and slick Fox news atmosphere if you have to work that hard to sell me your version of the truth somethings wrong with it.

Michael Haupt's letter is very informative.
Just one little quibble: the quotation he attributes to Woodrow Wilson, is, I believe, to be found first in the works of George Santayana.
In any case, I prefer the words of a philosopher to those of a would-be-dictator president.

Just returned from MB Haupt’s 3WWars website; agree with all you others, mindblowing!
Went there to see if perhaps I had been mistaken about the source of the quotation on learning from history—no luck. Don’t know now how to find out who said it first--Wilson or Santayana. What I found were articles on the true cause of WWars 1 &2. Oh well...But I still prefer philosophers.
However going to the website taught me a few things about exoteric and esoteric circles.
If only someone could clue us in now, on the true cause of world sorrow.

Hi Jay, I too tried to find who the quote belonged to, no luck. Wilson was one of our most well read Presidents, perhaps he picked it up in his reading.
It has been said that: "The people make a laughing stock out of the philosopher as a person harmlessly absorbed in his ideas, though really he is a terrifying force, and his thought has the effect of dynamite. He sticks to his course, conquers inch by inch, asserts his grip on the masses, until eventually the day dawns when he triumphantly overcomes all obstacles and is free to determine the destiny of mankind---or spread a shroud over its remains. Therefore those who wish to know in what direction they are going would do well to give their attention not to the politicians but to the philosophers, for what they propound today will be the faith of tommorrow".........I. M. Bochenski From: Contemporary European Philosophy, [in the 1st preface, translation of 2nd German edition, California Press]
Ok, who got us into the mess we're in today???!!!!

Bush Balkanizes the worldBy Jerry Mazza Online Journal Contributing Writer Feb 8, 2006, 16:44 SNIP: Paradoxically, Bush & Company’s relentless push for world hegemony seems to be Balkanizing the world, that is, splintering countries, regions, even zip codes, into smaller units, which are more hostile to each other though ethnically more homogenous. Additionally, this push is having the same effect in the United States, breaking it into red and blue states, a division beyond traditional North-South divisions. What’s more voting districts are being split into religious, ethnic, racial, and economic sectors as well, creating the specter of Balkanization. This leads me to wonder if there isn’t some law of political physics at work. That the more a dominating nation presses for hegemony, the more the pressure produces a breaking point, scattering nations (states) into smaller units, in essence, undoing a nation as it does an empire, as painful the deconstruction as the creation of either. Election 2006 & World War IIIBy Robert ParrySeptember 7, 2006 As Americans go to the polls in two months, they should have one thought fixed in their minds: they will be voting on whether to commit the nation to fighting World War III against large segments of the world’s one billion Muslims. Beyond the cost in blood and treasure, this war will mean the end of the United States as a democratic Republic. Those are the stakes that were made clear by George W. Bush in an alarmist speech to an association of U.S. military officers on Sept. 5. He declared that the United States must battle not only likely or even possible threats from terrorists, but the most fantastical dreams of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda about a mystical global “caliphate.” Adopting some of the most extreme rhetoric favored by his neoconservative advisers, Bush also broadened the “war on terror” beyond al-Qaeda-inspired terrorists and the Sunni-dominated Iraqi insurgency to include the Shiite-run Hezbollah movement in Lebanon and the Shiite government of Iran. “As we continue to fight al-Qaeda and these Sunni extremists inspired by their radical ideology, we also face the threat posed by Shia extremists, who are learning from al-Qaeda, increasing their assertiveness and stepping up their threats,” Bush said. “This Shia strain of Islamic radicalism is just as dangerous, and just as hostile to America, and just as determined to establish its brand of hegemony across the broader Middle East,” Bush continued. “And the Shia extremists have achieved something that al-Qaeda has so far failed to do: In 1979, they took control of a major power, the nation of Iran, subjugating its proud people to a regime of tyranny, and using that nation’s resources to fund the spread of terror and pursue their radical agenda.” Bush also cited his determination to defeat Hezbollah, a Shiite movement in Lebanon that is now a prominent part of the elected Lebanese government and broadly popular because its militia battled the Israeli army when it invaded Lebanon in July. Bush referred to Hezbollah’s leader as “the terrorist Nasrallah,” suggesting the United States has joined Israel in its determination to kill Sheikh Sayyad Hassan Nasrallah who was rated the most respected leader in the Middle East by an August 2006 poll in Egypt, which is considered one of Washington’s staunchest regional allies. Ranked second in that Egyptian poll was Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, another target of the Bush administration. By contrast, Egypt’s pro-American president Hosni Mubarak wasn’t even in the top 10, coming in 11th. Polls across the Middle East also have shown almost universal disapproval of the Bush administration and its policies. So, Bush has set the United States on course to battle not only the stateless terrorists of al-Qaeda and the stubborn insurgents in Iraq but Islamic political leaders who have widespread support among the Muslim masses. How the United States would win such a war or even assemble the vast numbers of soldiers needed is hard to comprehend. 'World War III' Bush’s virtual declaration of war on the Islamic world ranks as possibly the most ambitious military plan in American history – and without doubt the most reckless. This so-called “long war,” which Bush’s followers hail as “World War III,” would mean fighting large portions of a religious movement that has the allegiance of about one-sixth of the planet’s population. Muslims are concentrated in nations from northern Africa to East Asia, but also include large numbers in Europe and North America. Nevertheless, in his address to the military officers, Bush talked bravely about how confident he is that the United States will win this war. “America will not bow down to tyrants,” he declared to applause. Bush’s experience over the past five years, however, suggests that his strategy would require a full-scale transformation of the United States into a warrior nation, committed to a virtual endless struggle against any and all Islamic extremists who harbor thoughts of power, no matter how fanciful those imaginings might be. A key point in Bush’s argument is that al-Qaeda has expressed a dream of creating a “caliphate” reaching from Spain to Indonesia. Bush described the steps to this empire as starting with “numerous, decentralized operating bases across the world, from which they can plan new attacks, and advance their vision of a unified, totalitarian Islamic state that can confront and eventually destroy the free world.” But the reality is that prior to Bush’s presidency, al-Qaeda was a marginal movement in the Islamic world, driven out of countries across northern Africa, hounded by secular governments in the Middle East, and expelled even from the Sudan. In summer 2001, as Bush brushed aside CIA warnings about bin Laden’s plans to strike inside the United States, al-Qaeda leaders were holed up in caves in Afghanistan, literally chased to the ends of the earth. Then, after the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington – and the U.S. counterattack in Afghanistan – bin Laden fled to the mountains of Tora Bora where he apologized to his followers for leading them to what looked like defeat both militarily and politically, since the vast majority of Muslims had joined the rest of the world in condemning the 9/11 attacks. At that crucial moment, the Saudi terrorist leader set off on horseback along with a small band of supporters and was surprised to find that Bush hadn’t ordered in U.S. troops to cut off al-Qaeda’s escape routes. Bush already was shifting his focus to Iraq, which was governed by a secular dictator who had persecuted Islamic extremists like bin Laden. [See, for instance, Ron Suskind’s account in The One Percent Doctrine.] Military BlunderThe failure to trap or kill bin Laden at Tora Bora might rank as one of modern history’s worst military blunders. But in his Sept. 5 speech, Bush instead cited other historical failures – what he called missed opportunities to eliminate Lenin and Hitler when they were living in obscurity and writing about their improbable dreams of power. “In the early 1900s, an exiled lawyer in Europe published a pamphlet called ‘What Is To Be Done?’ – in which he laid out his plans to launch a communist revolution in Russia,” Bush said. “The world did not heed Lenin’s words, and paid a terrible price. … “In the 1920s, a failed Austrian painter published a book in which he explained his intention to build an Aryan super-state in Germany and take revenge on Europe and eradicate the Jews. The world ignored Hitler’s words, and paid a terrible price.” But the problem with Bush’s history lesson is that wiping out some future Lenin or Hitler would require killing or imprisoning anyone who wrote about political change in a way that rulers considered objectionable or threatening at that time. While “predictive assassination” might eliminate a Lenin or a Hitler, it also might kill a Mandela or a Jefferson. What Bush appears to be advocating is the end of free speech and free thought, or at least the regulation and punishment of speech and thought that he disdains. Bush is extending his concept of “preemptive war” – launching attacks against countries that might present a future threat to the United States – to “preemptive thought control,” eliminating political opponents who might pose some future threat. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits the U.S. government from criminalizing speech. But Bush is indicating that he and his political followers believe that, amid the “war on terror,” it is justifiable to do just that. Al-Qaeda PlotIn another chilling passage in his speech, Bush laid out a scenario for labeling criticism of him in the U.S. news media as part of al-Qaeda’s terrorist strategy. Bush claimed that bin Laden wrote to Taliban leader Mullah Omar about launching “a media campaign … to create a wedge between the American people and their government.” Bush said this media campaign would send the American people messages, including “that their government [will] bring them more losses, in finances and casualties.” Bush continued that bin Laden’s media plan “aims at creating pressure from the American people on the American government to stop their campaign against Afghanistan.” Bush cited this supposed al-Qaeda manipulation of the U.S. media as one of the reasons that “bin Laden and his allies are absolutely convinced they can succeed in forcing America to retreat and causing our economic collapse. They believe our nation is weak and decadent, and lacking in patience and resolve. And they’re wrong.” As Bush defines domestic criticism of his war’s costs “in finances and casualties” as part of a terrorist scheme, it’s not hard to imagine how Bush’s devoted followers will react. Any expression of concern that Bush is charting a course toward mad destruction will be attacked as somehow acting in concert with terrorists. Though Bush has said that his goal in waging his vague and seemingly endless “war on terror” is to defend freedom, the reality behind Bush’s grim vision is the emergence of an American totalitarianism where objectionable thought will be repressed and dissent will be equated with treason. The President has now made clear that he wants the Nov. 7 congressional elections to be a referendum on whether Americans will follow him into this dark future. Robert Parry broke many of the Iran-Contra stories in the 1980s for the Associated Press and Newsweek. His latest book, Secrecy & Privilege: Rise of the Bush Dynasty from Watergate to Iraq, can be ordered at secrecyandprivilege.com. It's also available at Amazon.com, as is his 1999 book, Lost History: Contras, Cocaine, the Press & 'Project Truth.' Source: www.consortiumnews.com/2006/090606.htmlHere's something interesting to note:"We're engaged in a global struggle against the followers of a murderous ideology that despises freedom and crushes all dissent, and has territorial ambitions and pursues totalitarian aims,"— George W Bush -- Taken from Bush Thanks Military on Independence Day at Fort Bragg, North Carolina (Strange how this also perfectly describes the Neocons in Washington DC.......Michelle)

Leading Academic: Neo-Nazis Have Signed Us Onto WWIII Destroying World Order: Analysing the war In Iraq and the Middle East with Dr Franics A Boyle Steve Watson & Alex Jones Infowars.net Friday, January 5, 2007 Alex Jones was joined on air this week by eminent American Professor, Dr Francis A Boyle, to discuss the current situation in Iraq, the wider implications for International Relations and the ruthless mentality of the Straussian neoconservatives that have seized global power in the twenty first century. Boyle is a leading American professor, practitioner and advocate of international law. He was responsible for drafting the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, the American implementing legislation for the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention. He served on the Board of Directors of Amnesty International (1988-1992), and represented Bosnia- Herzegovina at the World Court. Professor Boyle teaches international law at the University of Illinois, Champaign. He holds a Doctor of Law Magna Cum Laude as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science, both from Harvard University. Dr Boyle began by referring to the event that has shaken up the case for escalation of the war in Iraq and disgusted a great deal of the international community, the execution of Saddam Hussein. Dr Boyle stressed that he believes that execution was very carefully stage-managed with the intention to deliberately stir up sectarian violence and thus vindicate the Bush strategy of escalation. "We have to understand that this entire show trial was organised directly out of the White House. It had already been reported, even in the New York Times, that there was a lawyer on the White House staff who was in charge of running the whole thing. They were running this whole show, it was all paid for by the United States." said Boyle. "The Death Penalty for him came down just before the November elections, the execution itself, the hanging, lynching, I don't know what else you'd call it, was designed for political reasons. His execution under these circumstances violated the third Geneva convention of 1949. We had originally designated him as a prisoner of war, which the convention prohibited, setting up this kangaroo court proceeding that was run out of the White House." The trial was strictly controlled because had it not been mountains of evidence would have poured forth detailing how criminal elements within the US government brought Saddam to power, maintained him in office, underwrote his tyranny, and rewarded his aggression. Dr Boyle suggested that the timing of the execution served two purposes, first it was a good way to try and get out of the press the fact that the 3000th dead US soldier in Iraq was fast approaching. Executing Saddam was orchestrated to try and distract public attention according to the Professor. Secondly Dr Boyle believes the execution was rushed forward in order to intentionally stir up violence in the region and thus provide a pretext to send more troops into the Middle East: "There is the other factor of deliberately stirring up animosity between the Shia and the and the Sunni, which this lynching was also designed to do." Boyle said. Dr Boyle went on to say that National Security Advisors and leading Neocon hawks Elliott Abrams and Stephen Hadley gave the green light to deliberately stir up sectarian tensions, not only in Iraq between the Shia and the Sunni, but also in the Muslim world. So they picked the holiest day, Eid al-Adha, giving the go ahead to lynch Saddam knowing full well that it would stir up tensions all across the Middle East. "If you look at the wire services today you will see that they have now turned Saddam Hussein into a martyr. Now I've done a lot of work in the Arab and Muslim world and prior to this everyone I knew just thought Saddam Hussein was pretty much a butcher. But now they have turned him into a martyr and this is fine as far as the Neoconservative is concerned." Boyle stated. He pointed out that the same philosophy is being used today as was used by the United States during the Iran/Iraq war, as Henry Kissinger said, 'we want them all to kill each other off'. The globalist power mongers do not want a stable Arab and Muslim world because it would provide for a significant challenge to Western dominance of energy supplies and also diminish the arms industry greatly. Dr Boyle has intimate knowledge of the mentality of those now running the show as he went through the same PhD program at Harvard as Henry Kissinger and Zbigniew Brzezinski, and had the same International Relations teacher, Hans Morgenthau, whom many consider to be the father of International Relations as an independent discipline. Dr Boyle stated that when he was 21 years old Morgenthau offered to call up Kissinger and get Boyle a job on his White House Staff, which he declined. Dr Boyle also went to University at the same time as Wolfowitz, Ashcroft and other leading Neocons. "You have to understand the neocon mentality, as I was saying, I went to the University of Chicago, the home of the neocons, I entered there in 1968 as an undergraduate. Their founder Leo Strauss had just retired from the political science department, but I was trained by his foremost student and protege, co-author and literary executor Joseph Cropsey. So I went right through the entire Neocon Program." Dr Boyle asserted. "They are still going forward with their plans to re-carve up the Middle East and re-make it in the neoconservative image. They encouraged the Israel "war", massacre, whatever you want to call it against Lebanon and Israel's war massacre against the Palestinians, both this Summer. And now they are planning for a war against Iran, a bombing campaign that very well could turn into world war three. And that would not bother them at all these Neoconservatives, indeed from their perspective how else are they going to retrieve this situation?" Dr Boyle described the heritage that the neocon elite are carrying on. Basically put they follow the doctrine of Chicago University political stalwart Leo Strauss. Strauss's mentor in Germany, before he emigrated to the United States, was Carl Schmitt. Carl Schmitt went on to become the most notorious Nazi law professor of that era, justifying every hideous atrocity that the Nazis inflicted on anyone. Boyle continued, "The Neocons, through Strauss, and there is a book here if you are interested by Professor Shadia Drury... the Neocons have been thoroughly schooled in Straussian and Schmittian theory, which is basically Nazi, and these people really are neo-nazis. We have to understand that, and I think people have a difficult time coming to grips with it because it seems so alien to our tradition. I spent seven years at Harvard getting three degrees after the University of Chicago, and again going through this exact same program that produced Kissinger and Brzezinski, because I wanted to be trained exactly like these people, and think like them, know what they're up to and hopefully come out and turn it against them." The professor believes that what we are seeing now is the endgame, the 'go for broke' strategy. These neo-nazis, the neocons from Chicago, and President Bush, who at one point publicly bragged that he had appointed at least twenty Straussian neocons to his administration, are going for world domination and control. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were pre-planned for quite some time, by the Israelis and by the Pentagon. They have been executed to seize and steal at least two thirds of the world's energy resources, which the power elite plan to hold on to. According to Dr Boyle, this is the future of the world economy, they are not going to give it up. They understood that if they made this major grab for world power, by launching brutal aggression against Iraq and Afghanistan and perhaps now Iran, if we don't stop them, and Syria, that there would be massive resistance by the American people. Dr Boyle compared the current situation to that of the Vietnam war, encouraging peaceful non-violent civil resistance in order to expose the criminals that wish to escalate war purely to make money and gain more power to do as they will. "Harvard has learned nothing from the Vietnam war, they still train major war criminals and warmongers such as Kissinger, at Harvard today as we speak. The Strategy all along was to destroy Iraq as a viable nation state, because, if you read Huntington's Clash Of Civilizations, as he pointed out, Iraq was probably the only Arab nation state that could have provided leadership to the Arab world in a confrontation with the West over the energy supplies. So Iraq had to be destroyed." Boyle urged. Dr Boyle elaborates on some of these issues and more in his excellent book Destroying World Order: U.S. Imperialism in the Middle East Before and After September 11th. Bush's $63 Billion Blowjob: US signs huge arms deals with Arab allies [AND ISRAEL], An Arms Industry's Wetdream
I live in an insane world where people of power race to blow up my planet. "Having destroyed Iraq to save us from horrors that did not exist, [Condoleezza] Rice now wants to save us from Iran's future nukes by selling American weapons of mass destruction. Over the next decade, the Bush administration wants to give Israel $30 billion in military aid, a nearly 43 percent increase over what that nation received over the last 10 years, according to The New York Times. We want to give $20 billion to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. We want to give Egypt $13 billion. Do you feel safe?" Quote from the previous post here: ...the same philosophy is being used today as was used by the United States during the Iran/Iraq war, as Henry Kissinger said, 'we want them all to kill each other off.'
The globalist power mongers do not want a stable Arab and Muslim world because it would provide for a significant challenge to Western dominance of energy supplies and also diminish the arms industry greatly.
Well, sure the Arab Allies cautioned against quick US exit from Iraq! Wouldn't you after you had your wheels greased with 33 BILLION dollars worth of weapons? Even Israel isn't protesting; after all, they're getting a $30 billion military aid pact over the next 10 years.
Presidential hopeful John Edwards was the first of the Dems to speak out against the deal. He didn't mention Israel's part of the loot when he said the Bush administration's plan to sell $20 billion worth of weapons to friendly Arab states amounted to a foreign policy of convenience and he will take a tougher stance with Saudi Arabia if elected president: www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=888407
What the hell, let's arm the whole area and let them kill each other off. Gone are the days of any hopes of diplomatic talks where reasonable men [and women, Condi] sit across the table from each other in attempt to defuse a 'powder keg' which encompases a huge chunk of the planet and will affect millions of innocent lives. I can just hear Condi now, "Let them eat cake!"..... MichelleUS signs huge arms deals with Arab allies 31 Jul 2007 The United States last night confirmed it had agreed arms deals with Arab allies worth billions of dollars in an attempt to counter "negative influences" such as Iran, Syria, and 'al-Qa'eda' in the Middle East. Ahead of a trip by Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State, and Robert Gates, the Defence Secretary, to the Middle East, the Bush administration said it had agreed a 10-year, $13 billion (£6.4 billion) deal with Egypt and a $20 billion deal for Saudi Arabia. The announcement came a day after a $30 billion military aid pact over 10 years was announced with Israel. See: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/31/warms131.xmlArab Allies Caution Against Quick U.S. Exit From Iraq (Update1) By Ken Fireman and Janine Zacharia July 31 (Bloomberg) Major Arab allies of the U.S. cautioned today against a rapid troop withdrawal from Iraq that could shake the region, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in Egypt. The concerns were aired in meetings that Gates and Rice had in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and top officials from Jordan and Persian Gulf countries. Gates said he told the Arab governments that there was an increasing appreciation in Washington across ``the entire spectrum of people,'' including those who seek a quick withdrawal of troops, that the next U.S. move in Iraq should be measured. ``However it's done, it needs to be done carefully and with a view toward consequences and that we need not leave Iraq in chaos, in a way that will be destabilizing in the region,'' Gates said. Gates said the Egyptian leadership is concerned ``that the United States will somehow withdraw precipitously from Iraq'' and harm the entire region. Rice said the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council -- which includes Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates -- echoed those concerns at a meeting earlier today that was also attended by envoys from Jordan and Egypt. `Reconciliation' Sought The group pledged in a joint statement following the meeting to ``continue to support Iraq, expand their financial and political support'' and urged Iraqis to engage in ``national reconciliation.'' Northern Iraq's Kurdish leader, Massoud Barzani, said in an interview today that a civil war could break out if the central government in Baghdad fails to hold a constitutionally mandated referendum on the future of the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, which Kurds would like to annex to their semi-autonomous region. Barzani spoke to the U.S.-funded Alhurra television, according to the Associated Press. The issue of Iraq's political cohesion came up today in testimony by President George W. Bush's nominee for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen. He told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington it was important ``that we not let Iraq implode from an overall security standpoint.'' Mullen said the U.S. must continue to press Iraqi leaders to reach political compromises. Saudi Talks Rice and Gates traveled later in the day from Egypt to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for meetings with King Abdullah and the Saudi foreign and defense ministers. On their trip, Rice and Gates are bringing with them plans for more than $20 billion in arms sales for Saudi Arabia and five other Persian Gulf nations. The package includes naval vessels, satellite-guided bombs and fighter-aircraft upgrades. Talks have opened with Israel and Egypt for new 10-year military assistance packages valued at $30 billion and $13 billion respectively. Their main goals, according to U.S. officials, are to demonstrate a continued U.S. commitment to the region, urge American partners to become more involved in Iraq, lay the groundwork for a summit to promote peace between Israelis and Palestinians and counter Iranian influence. ``For the secretary of state and the secretary of defense to travel together to any region, including the Middle East, is at a minimum very rare, if not unprecedented,'' Gates said. ``It is a statement, first of all, of the importance of this region in terms of U.S. vital interests, and the importance we attach to reassuring our friends out here of our staying power.'' Oil Interests Saudi Arabia is one of the top three sources of crude oil imports for the U.S., accounting for about one-seventh of the import supply, according to Energy Department data. The kingdom's biggest oil customer is Japan, the top American ally in Asia and the world's second-largest economy. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said after a meeting between Rice and officials from seven other Arab nations, that the secretary of state explained ``in detail'' and ``with clarity'' U.S. plans to move toward the establishment of a Palestinian state. Rice said the group discussed ``how to support a unified Iraq.'' ``I found very good support for what the United States is trying to do in the Israeli-Palestinian issue,'' Rice said. ``I found concern but support for what we are trying to do in stabilizing Iraq.'' The chairman of the German parliament's foreign affairs committee, Ruprecht Polenz, told the daily Frankfurter Rundschau that the Middle East was already a "powder keg" and that an influx of weapons could set off. "If you add more explosives to a powder keg, you increase the risk and do not make the region more secure," he said. See:sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20070731/twl-us-saudi-trade-military-4bdc673.html The $63 billion shamBy Derrick Jackson, Globe Columnist | August 1, 2007 SECRETARY OF STATE Condoleezza Rice said the United States wants to send $63 billion in military aid and weapons to the Middle East to "bolster forces of moderation and support a broader strategy to counter the negative influences of Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran." Talk about wriggling in quicksand. Having destroyed Iraq to save us from horrors that did not exist, Rice now wants to save us from Iran's future nukes by selling American weapons of mass destruction. Do you feel safe? "This is throwing bad money after worse money," said Frida Berrigan, senior program associate at the Arms and Security Project of the New America Foundation. The program was formerly known as the Arms Trade Resource Center at the World Policy Institute. "You can see the whole arms package as a buyoff of Arab nations for what we've done in Iraq. "Justifying the sales because these countries feel threatened by Iran doesn't hold water. Iran is five to 10 years away from a nuclear weapon. That gives the United States and its partners more than enough time to come up with diplomatic solutions," Berrigan said. "This is just going to reinforce Iran's desire to have a nuclear weapon."The United States had already set records for global arms sales. The New York Times reported in November that the Bush administration and American military contractors doubled arms sales from $10.6 billion to $21 billion from September 2005 to September 2006. Berrigan estimates that the latest proposal will increase military aid and weaponry by another 25 percent. This is a bipartisan craziness that never ended despite the end of the Cold War. Under the dual guise of national security and protecting American jobs, the first President Bush and President Clinton aggressively promoted US arms sales to more than twice their level of the last years of the Cold War. Lawrence Korb, assistant defense secretary under President Reagan, told the Globe in 1996, "The brakes are off the system. . . . There is no coherent policy on the transfer of arms. It has become a money game; an absurd spiral in which we export arms only to have to develop more sophisticated ones to counter those spread out all over the world. . . . It is a frightening trend that undermines our moral authority in the New World Order."The absurd spiral did nothing for regional stability, democracy or stop terrorism from spreading to American shores. Saudi Arabia was a big buyer under Clinton. It remained a "problematic ally," according to the 9/11 commission. This week, the US envoy to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, could not decide whether Saudi Arabia was "a great ally" or "undermining" the United States in Iraq. There is no hint of a coherent policy. Under the president, 80 percent of nations that received arms from America in 2003 were classified by the State Department as being either undemocratic or having a poor human rights record, which covers all the Arab countries in the new deal. Israel is a democracy, but in its 2006 country profile, the State Department cites a source that determined that 322 of 660 Palestinians killed by the Israeli military "were not engaged in hostilities when killed and 141 were minors." This latest deal is so over the top that Israel is not opposing the $33 billion to Arab states because it gets $30 billion to maintain its military edge. En route to the Middle East this week, Rice denied that the military package was an attempt to buy allies with bombs. She also denied that the United States was relaxing its standards for democracy and human rights. But a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit said that "the weak response in the Middle East to pressures for democratization, as well as the experience with imported political change in Iraq, is making a mockery of George Bush's 'freedom' agenda." Reuters this week quoted Paul Salem, director of the Middle East Center at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as saying that the arms deal meant Bush's effort to spread democracy in the region was "more than dead." Berrigan said, "We've created a black hole in what used to be a country and this is supposed to be the solution? More military aid and more high-tech weaponry? The best case scenario is that Congress exercises its power and keeps this from happening."Derrick Z. Jackson's e-mail address is jackson@globe.com. Could Cycles of War or Peace Be Tied to Cycles of the Sun?This is an interesting article. I'm a believer in Cosmic cycles; we're experiencing a HUGE shift right now. [You can read posts at the Wake Up World thread here at the FH Forum...if you like.] Apparently, the scientific community is awakening from their slumber. Now, the following suggests that mankind [especially the males] are susceptible to solar flares, perhaps they don't have much of a choice regarding how to act....Hmmmm.....However, the article does suggest that global meditation may remedy the urge for war....Now that's on the right track!!! I like this guy's work. Maybe he can offer reasoning for those who fail to comprehend spiritually what's happening in our world...MichelleCould Cycles of War or Peace Be Tied to Cycles of the Sun? Dr. Buryl Payne - National Council on Geocosmic Research A growing number of scientists, health care professionals, and concerned citizens argue that these invisible frequencies are responsible for a host of various health problems. Meanwhile, the largest polluter has gone unnoticed: the Sun. At certain times, the Sun's activity can also aggravate mental health problems. Every 10?11 years, the number of sunspots found on our closest star rise from 0 (as it is currently in 2008) to a high of over 400. While the sunspots themselves don't affect Earth, the solar flares and other disturbances emanating from our Sun during increased sunspot activity result in an increased number of particles (electrons and protons) and harmful light radiation (ultraviolet and x-rays), known as solar wind. If it weren't for Earth's protective magnetic field and atmosphere, this bombardment of particles would burn us to a crisp. Equation: Sunspots => Solar Flares => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather and Human Disruption (mitch battros) Fortunately, our planet's magnetic field diverts most particles into a circular path around the Earth. Like weather patterns found on Earth, solar wind patterns can change rapidly. Luckily, our planet's magnetosphere quickly responds to the threat and absorbs the impact, wiggling and jiggling in the process. Geophysicists call this reaction a geomagnetic storm, but because of how it disrupts the Earth's magnetic field, it could also be called electromagnetic pollution. These storms, although minute, affect brain waves and hormone levels, causing a number of different reactions, predominately in males. While a few women may also experience changes during these storms, they generally seem less affected by the Sun's behavior. Reacting to changing hormone levels, some men may become increasingly irritable and aggressive, while others may instead become more creative. An increase in solar activity is found to increase psychotic episodes in individuals who already suffer from unstable psychological states. While we might relate such behavior to a full moon, in 1963, Dr. Robert Becker and his colleague, Dr. Freedman, demonstrated that solar changes also lead to a noticeable increase in psychotic activity. Yet these reactions are not simply isolated to a few particularly sensitive or unlucky individuals. Evidence indicates that wars and international conflicts most often break out when sunspots are rapidly forming or rapidly decaying, as these are times when there are more intense geomagnetic storms. In addition, this increase in solar activity also correlates to periods of more accidents and illness, as well as an increase of crimes and murders. The entire biosphere is affected by this electromagnetic pollution, and human behavior seems to react accordingly. Storm Tracking Thankfully, not all geomagnetic storms are disruptive. Some are generally beneficial to humans. But over time, these extremes in solar activity may also affect periods of earthly conflict. The data on cycles of war and peace extend back at least 2,500 years. (Some believe that they may be traced even further, but the records are not as reliable.) Although some may argue that it seems as if there is always war somewhere, records show that periods of conflict increase and decrease in nearly regular cycles. As early as 1915, some scientists were beginning to recognize connections between solar activity and human behavior. This work began with Russian scientist Alexander Chizhevsky, who observed that mass changes in human behavior correlated to sunspot cycles. In the 1930s, Professor Raymond Wheeler, a historian at the University of Kansas, took this observation one step further. His research afforded numerical rankings to the severity of individual battles correlating to solar cycles. His data was statistically analyzed by Edward Dewey, who validated the existence of these war cycles. Yet he was unable to make a definite connection with sunspot cycles because the data at that time was insufficient. In the 1980s, with a more detailed analysis of Wheeler's data, the connection became clear. Upon close examination of the data, a pattern begins to emerge wherein wars are most likely to start in key points of the sunspot cycle. This is when the geomagnetic activity is changing most rapidly on the upsurge of solar activity, or the downward part of the cycle, when sunspots are rapidly diminishing. In addition we can also see how this affects physiological mechanisms, such as altered brain rhythms and abnormal hormonal levels. In other words, wars are a kind of mass psychosis. 'War Fever' is real. With this in mind, should we view warring behavior as a type of disease? Are the related socio-political or economic factors as much a symptom of solar cycles as the battles they appear to create? And if the data on sunspot cycles points to an impending crisis, how can we best use this knowledge? When we see the connection to physical mechanisms (electromagnetic pollution), this gives us some predictive insight for when increased aggressions were apt to start. Calculations indicate that we're due to see another rise in intense solar activity in about two years: September 22, 2010. As with any disease, if we are aware of the cause, we can take precautions to lessen the symptoms. In past writings on this subject, I have suggested that global meditation might be one tactic for steering this aggressive cycle another way. (More information on this is available at buryl.com) Imagine how valuable it would be to mankind, or even an individual, if we were able to address a potentially volatile situation by carefully studying the pattern of history. How would this influence our decisions and actions, and how might this change our fate? Buryl Payne has a Ph.D. in psychology and an M.S. in physics and has written several books and articles on a variety of topics. He is currently working on a book exploring fifth dimensional consciousness.
