To Conscientious Objector,
Thank you for your generous and considerate words. Your advice about slowing down is a good point to consider. We are yet a young group, with a member or two joining daily. As membership grows, I expect we will have to slow it down a bit. Member/guest comments are beginning to increase. We look forward to future input from you and others.
Sincerely, Michelle Oct. 10, 05

"Let the let the flow of humanity contribute to the atmosphere and community will evolve slowly but naturally" Community cannot evolve if there is no diversified discussion between members and guests,if the only Opinions are by 2 moderators then the debate has lost it's diversity and appeal as an open subject for debate and discussion by members and guests.

I am in total agreement with Conscientious Objector. That is how the things should be.
Unfortunately, we see scores of our guests coming with none leaving any thing worthwhile for us. Please appreciate that we have to keep the ball rolling till it gains a momentum of its own. How would you like a forum in which nothing new has been posted for a week for the want of a guest posting?
Please bear with us for the time being. We will soon reach where you want us to be.
Help us please in the meanwhile.

<<Point made and that pendulum swings both ways in the response dept.
"How would you like a forum in which nothing new has been posted for a week for the want of a guest posting?"
>>Never has a day gone by with no reply but their have been a score of 15 minute drive by's by overzealous topic mods this is not a slam it's a call for Zen. All things worthy take time to mature and bear fruit This is in fact a new community among the Fountainhead readers. The readers will speak up given the opportunity to reflect on the community as a whole and what goes round here a little less enthusiasm and a little more reflection would go a long way towards nurturing the community as a whole.
"Let the let the flow" I stuttered while quoting myself LOL.

Thanks for setting this up, Anwaar; you're a gem. Would anyone be interested in Constitutional Law? Wouldn't it be advantageous for we in the United States to keep informed on this? Our government doesn't follow the rules. Also, a thread for up and coming legislation, action calls to Congress, etc. Did anyone call your Reps to support a Department of Peace on Wed? Imagine that, a Department of Peace vs A Dept. of Defense!!! michelle, a notable, brave man has been discussing US constitutional law at citizenspook.blogspot.com. Please comment and encourage the author to continue writing. If you, too, are knowledgable about Constitutional law, I would enjoy reading what you may have to say. The present situation we face may have spiralled outside of the domain of Constitutional law, yet at the same time it is vital for Americans to understand the extent to which the Patriot, Homeland Security, Total Information, Acts, et al, represent deviations from original purposes. Best greetings from Paris, dana Very informative site, citizenspook.blogspot.com spread the word, this guy nails it. If a change is to come, citizenspook is the way, highly recommended. 'The present situation we face may have spiralled outside of the domain of Constitutional law, yet at the same time it is vital for Americans to understand the extent to which the Patriot, Homeland Security, Total Information, Acts, et al, represent deviations from original purposes.'That says a lot that needs to be heard, those concerned would do well to heed your advice. Dana, you are wise, beyond your years. Perhaps a thread, with comparative facts, between what is, and what should be, is in order.

James was kind enough to inform me that I had stupidly posted a long comment to what I thought was an important posting in the Info Dump. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks, James.
By the way, is an Info Dump a place for garbage, or what?

I note the newly installed thread and a posting by cmr and would like to comment on both.
May it please be understood that in no way are the following observations and questions meant to be insulting or mocking or display any negative attitude. Their purpose is to generate discussion on this discussion forum. (And please know that for me, at any rate, the kind of spelling or usage a person indulges in is of little importance; what is important is the thinking and presentation of ideas.)
Over the past little while the number of topics on the forum has increased—89 at last count. I confess to a weakness that I’m sure is not found in the members of this group: I can’t visit and digest very easily so many topics. What’s important, though, is whether or not there is overlap and duplication in many of these topics.
There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with overlap and duplication, but it might be pointed out that there will be a needless expenditure of time, energy and thought given to problems which, while related to, are not specifically concerned with the main problem: how to deal with the newly arrived totalitarian state.
Let me digress for a moment.
In the American prison system—at least before the advent of privatization—much thought was given to programs given to subjects like entertainment, education, physical culture, and so on. There was good reason to ignore adverse criticism of these programs, because they served the purpose of calming prisoners and helping them accept their fate: the prisoners didn’t riot quite so often, became more tractable.
Since the U.S. has gone the way of the Russia and Germany of the last century in accepting the use of mental and physical torture (refined by the work of medical and psychological specialists) such programs are not necessary to keep prisoners “contented.”
Now, some people have concluded that the American people are being “entertained” and “educated” and being given “busy work” to make them think they are not in prison—or at least to be satisfied with their lot. And that the torture will come later.
I don’t know if those people are entirely right, but some might agree that when the house is on fire trying to save the TV set and keepsake jewelry can inhibit succesful escape from the danger.
So one big question is:
Don’t you think the present guardians of the American people are pleased to see us happy and busy with all kinds of do good and self improvement and keep busy work that we ourselves, with the best intentions, saddle ourselves with? That they are pleased to see that we’re not really tackling the main problem?
Another question arises now, one that relates to cmr’s worthwhile suggestion. The suggestion is worthwhile for people ignorant of the foundations of American democracy, people like some of those in the rest of the world who are unacquainted with what American democracy was like. Like the young American students who should learn what has been lost. The question is:
If responsible adult Americans are ignorant of the meaning and the significance of the documents cited, haven’t listened to their philosophers and teachers who have lectured them on democracy, and never learned how to keep at bay the native grown purveyors of totalitarianism in their own country, aren’t they guilty themselves of helping create that sad state of affairs? Isn’t it their own doing—their failure to do? Isn’t it a bit late to learn about fire prevention when your house is aflame?
Oh yes, voting...
Americans have more or less voted in more or less free elections for generations—and yet this state of affairs has come to pass. So here’s another question:
How could Al Gore or John Kerry have stemmed the tide of what has been called fascism, and how are you going to vote out of office the present dictators?
And for those of you who’ve had the endurance to read this far, a final question, looking at the title of this topic:
Why and how do we want to “hurt them”—I presume “them” means the domestic enemy of all of us? Is it simply by voting, or by some innocent, non violent change of regime, (unlike our adventure in Iraq)? Or is there another meaning for “hurt them” in the title?

James--
Not certain how to post a reply to your note about Info Dumps, so back here again.
This time to explain that I hadn't read the whole of your explanation, panicked and worried that my message was lost forever.
Checking back, I see it wasn't. I beg your pardon for my mistake as a polite person would say.
Moreover, I hadn't read to the end of your message and didn't discover until just now your very flattering remark about a certain Jay Paulson, write, whose works I'm not familiar with. Any writing skills I have come from the school of hard knocks.

Jay I dont know what to say, UM.. you just posted in an info dump. perhaps cmr's wording of the title was wrong, but none the less the thread was for informational purposes only, and he should have stated that a little better as im the one who put him up to finding relevant info for the dump, it would be my fault for not explaining the plan better to cmr and how to word the header effectively. will not happen again. There is a lot of site construction going on around here and things will smooth out shortly. jay paulson, where did you come by your extraordinary writing skills, seems to me there is a well known accomplished writer by that name.

Jay paulson, said Jay, as a guest in another's home do you often drag mud across the floor. I see in a lot of your posts you go off without bothering to read the whole post let alone understand it. as C.objector said That about sums it up, before you go slamming your gracious hosts as a guest no less
